星蘭祭 18 (September 2008)

JSS attended Seiransai 18 (星蘭祭) yesterday, 21st September 2008, at Waseda Shibuya Senior High School!

The event started at 9.30am all the way till 4.30pm. It was already filled with loads of people in the early morning!

The nearest to the entrance was the hall where performances of the bands formed by the Japanese students were held. We manged to catch this band named Luna Lux perform 3 songs out of which 1 of them is Rolling Star by Yui.

Next up, was the booths set up by each class!

These are the individual fliers that were pasted on the walls to advertise their booths:

Before we went for the games and plays, we took a walk around the gallery area at the 3rd level where the students displayed their works.

This was one of the rooms showcasing their findings about Singapore:

And this room showed the artworks of the students, which included Calligraphy, paintings, door-hangers, and their tie-dyed shirts:

One of the more unique door-hangers:

We were persuaded to watch a typical Japanese comedy. It’s really an interesting experience!

One of the main highlights of the booths was the Hana Yori Dango play by the students.

The setting of the skit was in Hana Yori Dango 2. And the best part was the F4 group were all girls! It’s something not to be missed for this event yeah!

This was how crowded the whole place was:

On the first level, there was a mini stage for the students to advertise their booths. These guys were advertising for the Haunted House.

This artwork was just right behind the mini stage. It’s made out of small pieces of paper glued onto a huge board base. Amazing isn’t it?

Here are pictures of some of the games:

The games were all very enjoyable and unique! It’s amazing how these students managed to think of such creative ideas for the games.

The other main highlight, was the Haunted House, or rather, the Haunted Hospital. The queue for it was extremely long! It was pretty scary for most of the people as once we were inside the room, we could hear people screaming their lungs out.

Some of the “ghosts”:

The amount of entertainment and excitement brought by the students and teachers of this event shows how much effort they’ve put to run the show! 楽しいかたです!

For those who were unable to go for it this year, please go for it next year! It will be a guaranteed fun-filled day!
